New standard for flame-retardant rubber compounds officially implemented! Unveiling the key technology behind the oxygen index of 38+ for mixed rubber used in fire hoses.

Nov 12,2021

The new GB6246 standard requires that the oxygen index of fire hose rubber compounds be ≥32. Xiangshang Rubber achieved a breakthrough through three steps:

  1. Base glue preferred A flame-retardant matrix is constructed using chloroprene rubber/nitrile rubber (70/30 ratio).
  2. Synergistic system Zinc borate (15 PHR) + aluminum hydroxide (40 PHR) form a biphasic barrier layer.
  3. Reinforcement process Nano kaolin (specific surface area of 28 m²/g) enhances char yield.
Tested by the National Fire-Resistant Materials Center:
  • The oxygen index reaches 38.5 (exceeding the national standard by 20%).
  • Combustion rate at a 45° inclination ≤ 25 mm/min
  • Low-temperature bendability (-40℃) without cracking
This achievement has been implemented in large-scale applications within high-rise building fire protection systems.
